It's the perfect blend between a nutritious date ball and a decadent truffle! You cannot go wrong with this recipe.
These date balls/bliss balls/truffles are sweet, soft, chocolaty, satisfying, nutty, sugarfree, and can literally pack in so much in one bite. Fantastic with coffee, and so very loved by little ones, perfect for lunchboxes!
I always use my basic recipe of dates, almond, cacao & shredded coconut. From there you can add anything you want for an extra nutritional boost in one bite, for example: any other nuts, pumpkin seeds, ground flaxseeds, chia seeds, a dollop of sunflower seed butter etc... Same great taste! Roll in some coconut shreds for a date ball effect.. or toss in some in cocoa powder for a decadent truffle effect 😉
Place the nuts first into the processor and run for 30secs until they're a fine crumble.
Add the dates and run again to get a paste. (If the dates are too dry or tough, dip them in warm water for a few seconds, remove and drain/squeeze well before putting in the processor).
Add the rest of the ingredients and run until combined. You'll get a somewhat firm dough that holds together when pressed. If If too dry/crumbly (depending on how dry the dates were) add a few drops of warm water. If too sticky, add a little oil, and chill for 30mins before rolling.
Roll into balls, toss in your favorite coating (I recommend a little of each) and enjoy!
